SOFTWARE ENGINEER / HUAWEIISLAMABAD, PK · 33.69° N

Hey, I'm Usman Tariq.

I make complex things
make sense.

Useful software. Intelligent tools. Reliable systems.
A collection of things I've built, tested, and figured out.

Ideas, turned
into working things.

Six selected projects. Explore a preview, then open the case study for the engineering and evidence.

NORTHBRIDGE / SAMPLE NOTICE

A deadline buried in the details.

Please submit your renewal form by 20 November. Include proof of address. No payment is required for this sample notice.

YOUR NEXT STEPS

From dense text to a clear next step.

Try the sample. No upload, model call, or personal data.

A browser-local explanation of the workflow, not the running ClearStep application.

ClearStep

A document assistant that turns dense notices into clear summaries, cited facts, and actionable checklists.

TARGETED REPAIR / ILLUSTRATION

Fix the claim. Keep the context.

Orion publishes a product FAQ. The warranty lasts two years. Customers can read it before buying.

The middle sentence conflicts with the source.

Source / README fixtureThree-year warranty in the FAQ.

Fictional sample. Read the recorded report for the real run and its framing limitation.
02 / AI reliabilityRecorded prototype

ClaimGuard

A verification pipeline that checks generated articles against sources, repairs only failing sentences, and leaves an inspectable audit trail.

REPORT WORKFLOW / ILLUSTRATION

Two inputs. One useful result.

  1. PARALLEL INPUTSRead customers + read orders
  2. WAIT FOR BOTHValidate & aggregate
  3. ONLY ON SUCCESSWrite Markdown report

The repository records five fixture orders totaling $485.00. Invalid input blocks the report. This diagram is not a live run.

03 / Backend & workflow systemsTested implementation

ForgeQueue

A Go job queue and workflow engine with durable dispatch, recoverable workers, and an operations console that makes execution inspectable.

Before checkout ships

Risk-based manual and API testing that turned reproducible defects into a clear no-go release recommendation.

CipherRelay

Educational encrypted chat and file sharing, packaged with reproducible deployment and operational tooling.

Mindplay

A team-built brain–computer interface prototype combining motor-imagery EEG, intentional blinks, and head motion into hands-free game controls.

02 / HOW I THINK

The interesting part is
usually under the hood.

01

Start with a real problem.

Understand the person, the workflow, and the constraints before choosing the tools.

02

Make the tradeoffs visible.

Explain the architecture, show the boundaries, and be clear about what a system can promise.

03

Let the evidence speak.

Inspect results, document failures, and use testing to decide what needs to happen next.

A LITTLE HANDS-ON

What happens
when a worker
disappears?

Good systems plan for the awkward bits. Walk through the idea behind CloudCrew's job recovery.

Submit a task

The supervisor validates the request and places the task in a durable database queue.

An interactive explanation, not a live backend connection.

TWO MORE SMALL EXPERIMENTS

Don't just read.
Inspect the behavior.

Local, fictional fixtures. No account,
backend, or model API required.

LIVE BROWSER-LOCAL LEXICAL MATCHING / NOT A FULL RAG MODEL

See which passage earns its place.

Three short sample passages. Ranking uses exact matching terms, not embeddings or an LLM. Inspect the source before trusting an answer.

03 / ALONG THE WAY

Real teams.
Real problems.

Engineering work, operational challenges,
and a little visual storytelling along the way.

2026 — PresentHuaweiSoftware Engineer

Turning telecom network data into useful operational views. I work on KPI dashboards, recurring data automation, and context-aware chatbot and API capabilities.

2025National Incubation CenterSoftware Engineer Intern

Built a Firebase-backed room scheduling system and worked with teams on requirements, ecosystem events, and digital content.

2024Parliament of PakistanSoftware Engineer Intern

Worked on internal ticketing automation and gathered operational requirements with multidisciplinary teams.

2024Pakistan TelevisionSoftware Engineer Intern

Collaborated with editorial and broadcast teams on digital public-service content, combining technical communication with visual storytelling.

04 / THE HUMAN BIT

More than
a tech stack.

I'm Usman, a software engineer who enjoys making difficult things easier to understand.

At Huawei, I work on telecom analytics, KPI dashboards, and workflow automation. In my own projects, I explore everything from document intelligence and distributed agents to encrypted messaging and the quality of software.

I graduated in Software Engineering from FAST in Islamabad. I like understanding why something works, finding where it doesn't, and making the next version better.
